This week, I have wedged clay and made my tea pot. I love my theme because you can do so much with nature! I can draw nature on some projects and add natural shapes and colors onto others. This week I helped tyler with a project and stayed after and made a vase. I was absent and my vase became bone dry and I could not save it :( this was a productive week though, and the only projects I have left to do are the hand and wheel, I think i will make a cup or a
Vase.

This week I am going to try to finish all of my projects so that I do not wait until the last minute and possibly not finish something. I am very excited for my nature presentation. This week I need to make a hand and wheel project and I need to finish a few glazes on projects. I have been helping beginner students with either making lids, or fitting different projects together. I love my teapot and I think it goes well with my theme because it has a butterfly on it, and a simple natural green color. I have been working very hard this week to finish up my projects and I am going to continue working hard. My hand a wheel project that I made last week broke when I tried to food it. The lip of the project was too thin and when I was finished footing, the lip broke and created an unrepairable crack in my project. This was going to be a mug but no longer will be.

I am trying to incorperate the feel of spring and summer into my nature theme projects. I am not 100% sure how I am supose to do so but I am trying to come up with ideas. I have made the base to my teapot and am working on the handle and spout. My handles have looked terrible so far and Hannah said that she would help me make one tomorrow and show me how to make one so that it is not thick and ugly. I think to match my nature theme, I will glaze it green and add a butterfly onto the spout so that it ties it into the spring feel of all of my other newly made projects.

This week has been very productive so far! I have made a new vase and I have glazed a few of my projects. I am very happy with my vase and I think that I will glaze it with trees and leaves on it so that it can be one of my theme projects. My theme is nature and with it, I am trying to chose natural glaze colors and on some projects I am trying to paint on scenes from nature. I think this vase will either be a spring or fall scene. I have also wedged a lot of clay and I have finished my lidded project. I Stayed after for one day this week and I made a plate, bowl, and cup. I am not sure what I will do with them yet.

Even though it is only Monday, I feel like this is going to be a
good week. I made my lidded project today but the lid broke so I will have to
remake the lid tomorrow. Today I made that project, and cleaned very well. My
plan for the rest of the week is to make a lid on Tuesday and then wedge a lot
of clay to last for the rest of the week. Then on Wednesday I plan on glazing my
plate and then throwing two projects that I can attach to form a teapot.
Thursday and Friday I will both throw and make projects for my theme (which is
going to be nature) and glaze anything that came out of the
kiln.

This week has been very productive, even with my missing school today, I have made one plate this week and I have glazed my other projects and wedged a lot of clay. The plate that I made is the first plate that I made that had a good lip on it so that my food will not slip off of it. I am very pleased that I have finished most of my projects that are due this quarter. I would have had them all finished except one broke in the kiln. I am getting ready to start my lidded project and I am looking online for some good ideas when it comes down to the shape and size that I would like it to be.

All of the projects that I made last week were bisked and are now ready to be glazed. I still need to make one more plate but I think I can finish that by the end of the quarter. I am very happy with my wheel altered project and my set of three. I also wedged a lot of clay this week so that I have enough to throw whatever I need to within the next few days. I am so excited to glaze! I stayed after one more day to make a plate and ended up making a plate and a bowl. I am very happy that I was able to make my plate in time to glaze it before the qu

I have new inspiration this week. Now that I do not have to work everyday after school, I decided to come in for about an hour and I made three great projects. I made a plate, a cup, and a altered wheel project. I found an image on the internet while looking for good ideas on what to make and it really made me think about my projects. My glaze is usually very simple and when I looked at this image I realized that if this bowl was glazed with one color, it would be boring. Instead, the glaze brings the bowl to life. Besides looking for new ideas this week, I have finished making my set of three, which will be a small plate, a cup, and a pitcher (for a spring time snack and lemonade). I have also finished making my two plates, and my wheel altered project.
I have also helped a few of the beginning students center, throw, and foot. I am surprised how fast some of them are getting a hang of the wheel, I remember it took me about a week just to figure out how to center clay!

This week has been very productive. I have thrown my tall project and have also thrown a bowl, another tall cylinder, and a small vase. While footing my vase I was not focusing and accidently made a huge hole in the bottom of it. Just a reminder to pay attention!! I took a whole day to wedge clay and Hanna and I decided to put both of out wedged clay into a bag and it is now our little community bag of wedged clay. My tall project came out of the glaze and I love the drip effect that I made on it! it is subtle but beautiful and adds more personality than if it were one solid color. I have spent some time trying to perfect making handles because mine have come out whimsy and ugly and I have yet to add one to any of my projects... SOON THOUGH! I feel more confident in my ability to throw tall projects. All of my projects so far have started off as cylinders, and on some, I have even had to stand up to fit my arm inside since it is so tall. It makes me feel good knowing that I took off about 2 years from ceramics and I can still throw projects with shape and height.

I just finished making both of my bowls and if I do say so myself, one of them looks amazing. Even though I just got back onto the wheel, this might be the best project I have ever made. Today I footed both of my projects and was pretty rusty. My footing looks terrible today, but I'm sure with more practice, I will be able to foot my projects beautifully again.
